“I feel I can breathe easier after looking at your work” (Printfest 2024)

Painted screen monotypes exploring the ‘Emotional Landscape’ through gestural, semi-abstract, fictive places full of movement, weather, air and space. These conjured spaces utilise our connection to nature as the panacea for, and reflection of the human condition.
These intuitive painterly monotypes are generated by gestural mark making directly through a screen, and subsequently edited by over printing to create unique works. Capitalising on the chance mark, and painting in layers of transparency to create depth, texture and form. Unique works which cross the bridge between painting and printmaking, inspired by the healing aspects of the natural environment. The works do not seek to describe a particular place, but instead are built through intuition using colour and mark making as a map.
The colour is of prime importance in setting the emotional tone.
Mason graduated from UWE in 2004 with an MA in Multi-disciplinary Printmaking. She has exhibited widely nationwide including the Royal Academy, National Original Print Bankside, Hepworth Wakefield, Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, The Wells Contemporary, The Society For Women Artists, The Royal Institute of Royal Watercolour Painters, the RWA Bristol, and’ Impress' Printmaking Festival.
