Annette Fernando, born in London in 1991 to a Sri Lankan father and an Italian-French mother, holds a BA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins and received the Cultural Leaders Postgraduate Scholarship from Sotheby's Institute of Art. She has exhibited extensively in solo and group shows across the UK, France, Spain, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong. An internationally acclaimed artist and prolific illustrator, Annette won the Jerwood Drawing Prize in 2014 and was selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2021 and 2023. Her work, rich in cinematic references, reflects her inner world and multicultural upbringing in London, drawing inspiration from comic books, fairy tales, romantic pulp novels, and film noir. Her art is part of private collections in the USA, France, Hong Kong, and the UK. In addition to her artistic practice, Annette is also a curator and writer in the arts.
