However, here, the engraving technique seems closely related to the place, fascinating him with its layer-by-layer revelation and the emergence of the drawing on a hard surface. As an immigrant, Andrey experiences a sense of disorientation in a new environment, but Mezzotint allows him to bring forth familiar and understandable silhouettes from the darkness of the unknown. This feeling of flashlight illumination is conveyed in each of Andrey's works.
