In her most recent projects, Adriana Barrios is motivated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) report that was published in February 2022. The report states that sea levels are projected to rise by an average of 10–12 inches in the next 30 years. This will be as much as the rise measured over the last 100 years.

By using traditional printmaking methods, Barrios’ artwork connects to the rich historical tradition of printmaking as a form of resistance and as a medium for social and political commentary. In the context of climate change, Barrios uses printmaking alongside papermaking, video, and scientific data as visual code to convey the urgency of the global climate crisis. The art becomes a testament to the past, a record of what once was, and a call for climate action now.
