Yasmeen re-imagines collective fiction, to sustain as well as change the aesthetic experience by interlacing antiquated stories with new symbolism that become transformative. Araby who was raised in the Sinai desert and Essex to mixed parents, is interested in collective fiction, the meeting points between myth and creation stories from different regions, and the connections between cultures. Enchanted sacrificial forests and an Eastern ancient god Baal is introduced to Western Gnomes and ideas of worship. Her work has dark themes mixed with sweet imagery in an intoxicating mix of colourful confusion. In her work what first appears comforting reveals a dark underbelly.
