Oliver Murdock is a multidisciplinary West Yorkshire artist working in the studio collective at 401 ½, Wandsworth. Oliver's work utilises various mediums including printmaking, glass sculpture, oil painting and installation. His body of work investigates topics of mental health by utilising influences such as taxonomy, ontology, and the intrusive thinking process. The sculpture, 'Intrusive Instances on File' began as an experiment dedicated to investigating the intrusive thinking process. Words were written down in a social setting while being viewed by a partner (Alicia Disandolo, Goldsmiths 2023), who would document an intrusive thought in reply to the last repeated phrase. The words were chosen by instinct, never more than a sentence, then repeated. This documentation of thought patterns would continue over 2 months, each layer representing a separate session of writing.
