Luke Sebastian Wade is a Bristol-based artist. Employing printmaking as his toolset and media imagery as his subject, he dissects with visceral precision the tendons pulled taut to breaking point throughout society. Key areas of focus are global terrorism, civil unrest, the sinister militarization of civilian police forces and the potency of weapons. Working in intaglio processes with emphasis on drawing, Luke attempts to bridge the gap; to restore weight to images of world events that are bleached beyond recognition through viewing on screens. Although the subject matter itself offers little in the way of light relief, he thoroughly enjoys printmaking and its various misadventures. Linocut provides a different space, where he can be at once meticulous and playful. Luke graduated from Camberwell College of Art with an MA in Printmaking in 2016. Until 2019, he lived and worked in London, as a member of Artichoke Print Workshop, Bainbridge Print Studio and London Print Studio. He has exhibited in many shows, including the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy, LOOP, The Curwen Gallery, Affordable Art Fair and the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair. He is one half of Blue Roll Press: a mobile print workshop and a member of the Bristol Print Collective.
