Lauren Moore is a London-based contemporary artist. Her work is a response to her insatiable need to mark make. She satisfies this through creating hand-touched artworks. Playfully exploring colour and texture, layering and revealing to create surface landscapes.   Moore’s work is questioning the notions of perfection and individuality and how they juxtapose against each other. We are constantly shown images of perceived perfection, what is it really? Why do we strive for perfection? Do we truly want to be individuals? Or are our imperfections what make us individuals? Can the themes of perfection and individuality coexist or are they always to contradict? ‘Obscured Figures’ is a series of monotypes where Moore continues to question what makes us who we are. She is drawn to distorting the figure to detach it from what the viewer expects to see and to focus on the life experiences that mark us and make us individuals. The process of monotype intrigues Moore as the exact final outcome is unknown. Each monotype is itself an individual, a one off not to be duplicated. Lauren Moore is a graduate of Surrey Institute of Art and Design. In 2022 she exhibited with Jealous Gallery London and Woolwich Print Fair. Her work will be exhibited in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2023.
