Karen Edwards is originally from the North West of England and is now living in East Sussex. She has recently graduated from the Royal Drawing School’s Online Drawing Development Year (ODDY23). Her practice is primarily focussed on drawing en plein air, inspired by the beautiful East Sussex countryside, its ancient woodland and organic forms in gardens such as Great Dixter where she is a volunteer. When back in the studio, drawings may be developed into short limited editions of 8-12 prints, normally linocuts which are hand printed at home. She enjoys various types of printmaking, including etching, collagraph techniques and pushing the boundaries of relief printmaking. ‘Backwards through a hedge’ a linocut reduction print was shortlisted for the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition 2024, whilst ‘Sky over Skye’ was also long listed for the Jackson’s art prize 2024 earlier in the year. Karen has recently returned from a print residency at Dumfries House in Ayrshire which was supported by the Royal Drawing School and the King's Foundation. Her etching 'Dumfries House through the trees' and her digital drawing 'The healing of gentle rain' have been donated to the Dumfries House collection. As an emerging artist Karen is currently not represented by a gallery. Web: www.KarenEdwardsArt.com Instagram: @KarenEdwardsArt
