Building on his background in sculpture and three-dimensional work John Sextons prints explore the relationship between object and space, doing this through the development of mark and tone. He does this digitally through CAD drawing, often combining this with photographic imagery and other scanned material. The results are then developed into intaglio prints through the photo etching process. These images often refer to the built environment, sometimes existing sites sometimes contrived, to explore ideas of inside/outside, containment and the possibility of passage. The most recent work also refers to the possibility of multiple dimensions. Sexton gained an NDD at special level in sculpture in 1965 and later graduated from Goldsmiths college with an MA in Fine Art in 1982. He was also awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 1972. Recently, he has exhibited his prints in the Morley Gallery and the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair 2022.
