Caterina De Nisco (Parma, Italy, 1991), now working at Galeria Taller Gravura (Malaga, Spain); loves playing with words and breaking them down to their smallest parts unit of measurement. This is why she chases after different letter forms and fonts letters, to create her own "Abecedary". The illustrations that inhabit Caterina's prints embrace suspended and universal themes, which the artist chooses and interprets according to her own vision, returning on paper images that go beyond the meaning of the chosen word... Here in WCPF exhibits the "H of Horror Vacui" where, with a medieval imagery Caterina expresses how to filling the void in each part to flee from the possibility of creating space, opening up other possibilities. Caterina has a background in art history (Siena's University) and illustration (ARS IN FABULA Master Degree), disciplines which she blends with art graphics (Carrara's Academy) by playing to cut paper and plates, experimenting with paper and chalcographic techniques and translating both the medieval and traditional imagery and the Mexican and eccentric one of her travels. Caterina deepened her knowledge of printing with experiences such as the residency at the Repin Academy in St. Petersburg (2020), the Artprint Residence (Arenys de Munt, 2021 and 2022), and the Galeria Taller Gravura (Malaga). Caterina's works were selected for many national international awards and exhibitions: Tarantasio National Illustration Competition (2018; awarded with the first prize); National Prize of the Arts, Graphic Arts section (Sassari 2021; Lecce 2022; Tirana 2023); exhibition "OCHOfragil", curated by the gallerist Jutta Heun, Gießen/Germany (2022); VIII Edition of the Valladolid Etching Biennial (2022); Alma Grafica VI Fair, Oviedo (2023: awarded with a scholarship from the CIEC Foundation of Betanzos); XVII National Engraving Awards of the MGEC in Marbella (2023; awarded with the Honorable Mention); XXI Sarcelles International Engraving Biennial (2023); Ateneo Malaga Prize for engraving and IX Concurso de Artes Plásticas DCOOP (2023; awarded both with the first prize).
