Valeska Hykel | Take Them Down and Throw Them Away, 2024

£1,400.00

Screenprint

Media Dimensions: 76 x 102.5 cm

Image Dimensions: 70.7 x 94.5 cm

Unique Work

Framed only

Valeska Hykel is a printmaker and painter based in Bristol. Painting directly on the silkscreen she creates expressive monotypes that toy with the boundaries of painting within print. She explores the impossibility of uncovering ideal forms and celebrates the imperfection that process gives rise to. Referencing the magnificence of 17th century still life, and playing with notions of beauty, she strives towards deceptively aesthetic work that symbolises the ongoing transparency between life, degeneration and mortality. Valeska was Artist in Residence at Print Club London in 2023 and returned in June 2024 for her solo exhibition, 'Intrusions', featuring a new body of screen printed monotypes. This is her third successive year exhibiting at Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair.
