David Caldwell is inspired by the natural world and focuses on capturing the mood and presence of a place - sometimes dramatic, sometimes serene. Texture, light and form play a strong part in bringing these qualities to the forefront. His recent work explores the moonlit landscape and the interplay of light from nightfall till dawn. In low light conditions our eyes perceive landscapes desaturated of colour, less defined, with an overlay of grainy textures. A landscape less familiar than in daylight hours. Printing on various textured papers, David likes to emphasize these elements in his works
