Suzsi Corio constantly explores new, intuitive and inventive processes to enhance the surface texture of her prints and paintings. She originally studied constructed textile design at the RCA and went on to run an international textile design studio for many years prior to becoming a full-time professional fine artist and her textiles background continues to be evident in her current practice. Her work can be divided into 3 themes which sometimes overlap: mixed media landscapes sometimes incorporating hand-painted collaged papers, cityscapes and still life. Her most recent work involves printing painterly, semi-abstract monotype landscapes. She applies acrylic paint onto the plate with various tools to create unexpected patterns and textures evoking the landscape. In addition to exhibiting at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, her work has been selected for several of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour exhibitions at the Mall Galleries and also the Royal Watercolour Society. Her paintings, monotypes and monoprints have been sold to collectors in the UK ,Europe, USA, and Australia, and collectors include Dulwich Picture Gallery as a gift for one of their trustees, a Silicone Valley billionaire, a Hollywood film producer, a magician, a forensic tax investigator and a stand-up comedienne amongst many others.
