Ky Lewis, is a multi-disciplinary artist, curator and workshop facilitator based in South London with a practice centred on experimental photography and printmaking. Her interests are history, human activity on the land, environmental activism with regard to local trees and site responsive location work, images are imbued with atmosphere and emotions redolent of her time in nature. Process driven she works with printmaking methods often drawing in the landscape directly onto Tetra Paks whilst making long exposure large format pinhole photographs. Sustainability is important to her and she reuses and recycles as part of her practice. Started during covid, her works respond to the ‘urban forest’ within South London, looking at the value of the green canopy, initially started as a photographic project the work has expanded to include drypoints as a way to engage with the intricacies and emotions presented by the open spaces visited, recording dramatically pollarded street trees as a counterpoint to local specimen trees in parks. Trained in graphics, then illustration and printmaking at Camberwell School of Art. She has exhibited nationally and internationally with awards from PX3; Denis Rousell, Julia Margaret Cameron Awards, TIFA. NYC4PA and Fix Photo Festival. Recent shows include, "*Ironbridge Fine Arts Printmaking show",* Ironbridge UK 2024, "*Symbiosis I, II and III"* a co-curated series lastly at Brighton Photofringe Phoenix Centre Brighton UK 2024, "*Open Press Project"* Künstlerwerkstatt Freiburg Germany 2024, solo show: *“Breathe-A Dialogue with The Urban Forest”* Hundred Years Gallery UK 2023, "*Bainbridge Open"* The Handbag Factory London 2023, "*Enlighten”* Griffin Museum of Photograph Boston 2022, *"Svitlo"* Looiersgracht 60 Amsterdam 2022, *"Other Ways Of Seeing"* Plaxall Gallery New York 2022.
